The Drone Machine- by Madeline Jacobs

The Drone Machine- by Madeline Jacobs is a N/A group. It is a CLOSED group. There are 67 participants in that group. So it is a Tiny group. You can find this group by searching 351378121610093 on Google, Bing or Yahoo. 2015-03-28 01:56:22 is the closest date we have information about it.

I've started a project called "The Drone Machine"- a new instrument I'm designing in conjunction with my honors thesis (Music and Ritual- Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism). It is in development right now and hopefully, with the aid of awesome friends and under the guidance of Adrian Freed and the amazing people at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies, will be built by December!

The idea is to create an instrument that will facilitate both a personal and collective meditative space, in which each user is participating in a larger soundscape. I am intrigued primarily with droning instruments and the relationship between drone and cacophonous sounds to create a specific meditative space. It will consist of an acoustically resonant sound chamber, at least three didgeridoo-style instruments (that I will build myself) that will feed into this chamber (played by people outside of the chamber), as well as surround-sound speakers installed inside. The person in the chamber will be in control of a simple electronic system to mix pre-recoded sounds/music that will be interjected at random intervals. The idea is to create a space in which the musician can never be fully in control of the music being put out of the Drone Machine, creating an entirely unique moment in space and time. By eliminating artistic control from the artist, what strange new combinations of sound will emerge?

I have added all of you in the hope that some of you will find this project interesting and would be interested in joining me in bringing it to fruition! I have started with those friends and family members who I feel are creative, supportive and possess various epic skill sets that I would love to learn from... Any level of participation is absolutely welcome...from help building the chamber to programming the interface system, from painting the didgeridoos to a few supportive messages here and there, all are welcome to join in! I'm really excited to embark on this project, so come one, come all and invite any friends you feel would be interested or would have something to contribute!

Thanks and I love you all!
