Namaste everyone!

At the start of the year there was interest in starting a university cultural club with similar objectives to that of the Nepalese Society in Christchurch. However, club regulations regarding minimum number of club members and associated management resulted in the club not forming. This group aims to be a substitute for that club. Furthermore, interest in having a group with similar cultural background has been expressed and this initiative aims to establish this.

Our main aim for the university chapter of the Nepalese Society is to encourage and foster the interaction between Nepalese students and staff at the university to provide support to each other. This interaction is primarily focused on academic support but also extends to social support. This is an unofficial group that is also focused on the Nepalese youth in Christchurch that may study at the University of Canterbury and that require specific information. Having people in the group with experience at the university means potential and existing students have someone to talk to.

The aims listed are not exhaustive. Moreover, we aim to be an informal group.

Events as simple as having lunch together, playing cricket, going to the gym together, etc. will help to achieve our aims. Please post anything that may be useful or set up events.
