Players and friends are invited to come out to the beach @174th and Collins Ave(Samson Park).
We play co-ed doubles, triples, and quads every Saturday and Sunday starting about 1 pm till sundown.
Our Standardized Rules of Play:
1. Court shall measure 8mX8m on each side. Polls shall be adjusted to make the net as tight as possible.
For doubles and triples the following applies:
2. Open hand receiving on first contact IS NOT allowed with the exception of a hard driven ball with no upward movement after being struck by an opponent.
3. No open hand tips or misdirecting balls allowed. Mis-hits excepted. No open hands underneath the ball.(Tourists!)
4. No open hand 'set' passes to the opposing side allowed. Wind and unintentionals not excepted. Quads play all sets over.
5. Loose ball handling rules in effect. Bad carries and double hits may be called.
6. Blocked shots at the net count as zero. Hard driven balls only.
7. No touching the net at any time.(Guerra!)
8. Foot fault loses a point.(Alex!)
9. With zero or one team waiting games shall be played to 21. With two or more teams games go to 15. Rally scoring. Win by two points. Winner stays on and keeps side of choice.
10. Players may adjust rules to suit majority preference.
These rules were developed with our average player in mind. They are not 'pro' rules but provide a high quality standard of play.
