This group was started to inform and support parents and families who are dealing with this illness. Kawasaki is such an unknown and uninformed disease. Together we are trying to help make the medical communityand families more aware of the early signs.
Our son is now almost 5 years post-KD but we still see some of the symptoms arise when he is sick with a cold or flu. I would love for other parents to share their stories and maybe we could try to find a common link.

Some of the symptoms and signs are:
-high fever for several days
-peeling and/or red skin on hands and/or feet
-strawberry coloured tongue
-swollen hands and/or feet
-swollen, cracking lips
-redness in the whites of the eyes
-very irritable
KD is treated with IVIG (blood by product) and high doses of aspirin. Complications can occur, but the child has a better chance of recovery the sooner they are treated. There is a 10 day window.
