Hello ATU 587 Brothers and Sisters and welcome to the forum.

The time has come to bring our union membership back together and create a work environment we can be proud of. This is the main purpose of the forum. Hopefully we can learn from each other and come to a better understanding of what is needed for the membership and each classification. It’s time to become one voice as a union and take that to the county. We would like to see the apathy of the membership become a thing of the past.

This forum is 100% independent from union or King County authorization. As union members, union officers are allowed and encouraged to join the discussions, please show them the same respect as everyone else. Management is not and will not ever be allowed. That said, there is no guarantee someone with the will could not find a way to read what is posted on the forum. Please consider that when you post, we can’t be responsible for any repercussions.

Let’s have some fun with this along with getting something accomplished. We can be an unruly bunch at times but try to keep the humor in the PG neighborhood, there are those that will really appreciate it. If this isn’t a place you’re interested in or there is an issue that makes you want to leave, let one of the admins know. We are always open to feedback and new ideas.

Please take the time to read through the rules to avoid any future misunderstanding. We want this to be a place where you feel free to express yourself and become part of the community. Together, this can be the most productive vehicle to come to the membership in our history. We can change the way things are done and the speed important information gets to you. New members can ask questions and reduce the learning curve.

While I’d like to take credit for this, that’s just not possible. Left to my own, this would have been a simple county/union bashing forum. Greg Woodfill saw the potential early on as a tool to bring about some positive changes and has made me a believer. The admins have been working hard in the background keeping everything on track. All the credit then goes to these folks (and in the event of some big disaster, it’s their fault… especially Greg.) This is completely for the ATU 587 membership.

In solidarity,
David Farnham
