The Battalion quick march is the Lincolnshire Poacher from the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment. The Regimental and Battalion slow march “The Northamptonshire” originates from the slow march of the Northamptonshire Regiment. The Regimental quick marches are “ Rule Britannia” and “ Speed the plough”. Rule Britannia dates from 1740 when former Regiments served as marines during the war of Jenkins Ear.

Lincolnshire poacher.
The Lincolnshire Poacher
When I was bound apprentice in famous Lincolnshire
I served my master truly for more than seven long year
Till I took up to poaching, as you shall quickly hear
Oh, 'tis my delight on a shiny night in the season of the year.

The Cap badge is worn by all members of the regiment, consisting of the Silver Star formally worn by the officers of the Royal Lincolnshire and the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiments, with the Castle and the Key of Gibraltar. This latter element commemorates the siege of the castle of Gibraltar from 1779 to 1783 when it was defended successfully by five Regiments including the Essex and Northamptonshire Regiments against a siege by the forces of Spain and France.

Bedfordshire Flash, the distinctive black and yellow flash is worn on the right sleeve by all ranks in memory of the Bedfordshire regiment. It is worn only in working, barrack and combat orders of dress.

The Khaki Beret originally worn by officers of the Royal Norfolk Regiment, when the Regiment became part of 4 (Guards) Division in 1942. The black patch is worn in commemoration of the death of Sir John Moore at the Battle of Corunna in 1809.
