The Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen was founded in October 1945 as a branch of the Prague Medical Faculty and, in 1953 it became an independent faculty of Charles University. During its existence the Faculty has educated almost 7500 doctors. Teaching is generally performed in Czech, but in1992 our faculty introduced a Medical Course Program in English. There are two courses of study - General Medicine and Dental Medicine. At present every academic year there are 150 new students admitted for the study of General Medicine and 40 for Dentistry. The Faculty provides accommodation for students in two halls of residence,(Bolevecka Kolej and Karlovarska Kolej) both of which are located close to the medical faculty.
In May 2007 the International Students Medical Association (ISMAP) was created by the students of the faculty.
