Since May 2006, Russian LGBT activists are trying to stage a Pride Parade in Moscow.

Every year, the Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhov banned their Pride and every year, they defied the ban, showed-up in the streets as they promised to do, and were arrested in 2006, 2007 & 2009.

In 2008 and 2010, they managed to march for a couple of minutes and avoid the police and the anti-gay protesters who are running after then every years with sticks and eggs.

In September 2010, Yuri Luzhkov was sacked from the Moscow City Hall and a month later, the European Court of Human Rights said that the ban by the Mayor of the Moscow Pride was contradictory to the European Convention on Human Rights.

This being said, @Nikolai Alekseev, Moscow Pride Chief Organizer, and with him other activists from GayRussia,Ru and other LGBT groups from Russia and Belarus are hoping to stage their first authorized Moscow Pride on May 28, 2011.

Russians are very hospitable and know how to party, so, join us!
