THIS IS A NON-COMMERCIAL GROUP. ADVERTISING, SALES AND PROMOTIONS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. If you are being contacted via PM by a person soliciting business or selling something, please alert admins.

This group is a safe haven from shaming and fear-mongering around sleep training and sleep learning. We support each other in listening to our children, respecting their needs and ours, allowing and hearing their emotions, and trusting their capabilities.

This is "respectful" sleep training in the sense that we listen to our children, consider many alternatives, tailor our actions to children's unique temperaments and situations, and respond based on how things are going. "Respectful" does not mean "no cry,” because respect is consistent with listening to children and allowing them their feelings, their struggle, and their space.

GROUP POLICY:

ZERO TOLERANCE for judging, shaming, trolling, mommy wars, or debate. People who engage in these activities will be BANNED without warning.

Trust parents to know what is best for their families, no matter what method they are using or how old their child is. We support respectfully encouraging good sleep habits from birth.

For example, it is not acceptable to…
- refer to any well-known sleep learning method as being cruel or harmful (because what isn't right for you may be right for someone else).
- suggest a minimum age for any method of sleep training (because we trust parents to know what their babies can handle).
- discourage night weaning (that's between parents and their pediatricians).
- post links to articles that are against group guidelines, without a warning of some sort (because this is a safe space).

In other words, show others the same respect you want shown to you!

Please stay ON TOPIC. If you want to ask about your own situation, start a new thread; don't hijack!

CONSULTANT POLICY: Sleep consultants are welcome to join and may provide advice, but may not advertise themselves or solicit business. Group members may not recommend individual consultants or consultation services. In the group files, we maintain a directory of consultants who are and/or have worked with group members; members may direct other members to the file.

IMPORTANT: This is an amateur parent support group; while some members are professional consultants, all of the advice given in the group is provided for general information only, and none of it as expert or medical advice. You should not rely on any information or advice obtained from any member of this group. Parents should always consult a doctor or other professional before starting sleep training or in relation to any other concerns, medical or otherwise. By joining this group, you confirm that you accept and understand this.

This group is actively moderated. Please tag admins if you see anything that needs our attention.

Wishing you restful times ahead!
