For years, our nation’s cities and towns have been leading the charge towards sustainable development by implementing innovative energy conservation and environmental protection programs to support both their communities and the national economy. Today, city leaders find themselves at the epicenter of the sustainability movement:
creating “green” jobs, actively pursuing initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and meeting present community needs without compromising the well-being of future generations.
The federal government can, and should continue to be, a full partner in all of these efforts, providing national leadership when appropriate and supporting innovation that can only happen at the community level. The EENR Steering Committee is dedicated to providing Americas cities with the resources and tools necessary to foster and contribute to such relationships.
