The Muse was created by Shannon Cook-Burton in 2008 in order to provide a safe place for former members of the Worldwide Church of God, its splinter groups, and the various Grace Communion congregations. It's a place to heal, share experiences, get support, form new friendships and have fun.

Here on the Muse, we encourage people to speak their mind, but in a respectful way. Feel free to make fun of Herbie and the Gang, post your best bacon recipes, swap stories about your experiences in SEP, AC, Imperial School, FOT, Day of Atonement, etc.
We realize that everybody is at a different point along their journey to healing. Many of us have PTSD because of traumas we have endured in the cult. Many of us have recovered and are intent on helping others to recover and grow. Patience and understanding are paramount. We never tell someone to "get over it." We understand that if any posts are disturbing to us, we don't have to comment or make the other person feel bad or wrong. Abuse of other members will not be tolerated.
Members of the Muse come from different perspectives and life paths - including mainstream Christianity, Buddhism, Wicca, Atheism and Agnosticism. Feel free to talk about your views and beliefs, but state them in a non-confrontational, first person perspective, not as a dogmatic statement. We all, members and admin alike, have the right to speak about our current beliefs in a non-judgmental way. Abusive posts and "preaching" will be deleted and those who continue to abuse or preach will be removed.
Verbal attacks, name calling, threatening another member or an admin, promoting products or services, posting offensive material such as obscene photos or political diatribes - all are examples of behavior that will not be tolerated here at the Muse.
Our #1 goal is to keep the Muse a safe and positive place to heal and grow as individuals.
