WELCOME! The Endometriosis Research Center’s (endocenter.org) Fitness Group is a companion sub-group to our existing support/education platforms, in order to address the needs of women and girls with the disease who either are already, or who wish to become, more physically active.

Exercise can be an important component of management techniques for endometriosis, and physical activity is important for everyone. However, because it can be challenging with the disease and common co-existing conditions i.e. Interstitial Cystitis & Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, the intent of this group is to support one another through experiences and exchange ideas, information and positive feedback.

In addition to symptomatic benefits in endometriosis, physical activity is an important component of general heath both physical and mental. Regular exercise helps control weight; reduces risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and even certain cancers; strengthens bones and muscles; helps improves mood; etc. Women in this group range from hard-core fitness enthusiasts to those who are trying to increase activity for overall health. ALL are welcome! Please make yourself at home here in this 'judgment free zone'.

This platform does not replace the ERC’s main Facebook wall located at http://www.facebook.com/EndoResCenter and is not a substitute for medical advice. Please do not post off-topic; for general discussion about other aspects of endometriosis please visit Nancy's Nook at http://www.facebook.com/groups/418136991574617 and visit our companion Diet/Nutrition group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/ERCDietGroup. Please respect the nature of the forum and DO NOT share posts outside of this setting. Anyone found to be doing so will be removed without notice.

Our group is very informal; rules are minimal. We ask members to remain on topic; no trolling/spamming/harvesting (anyone found doing so will be reported and banned); and be respectful of one another, the ERC and the individual journey we all take with endometriosis. No post, link, material or other information herein is to be mistaken for medical advice in any way. No conversation with any fitness/healthcare professionals donating their time and expertise herein is to be mistaken as provider/patient relationship. Consult your personal physician for advice and assistance regarding your care.

Though there is no “right way” to exercise when you have endometriosis with or without one of the commonly co-existing conditions, women and girls may share their experiences and encourage one another in the journey to be as healthy as we can be. We hope you find this to be a terrific resource as you embark on your own path. Thanks for being here! -Endometriosis Research Center Team
