Spirituality: A process of personal transformation, either in accordance with traditional religious ideals, or, increasingly, oriented on subjective experience and psychological growth independently of any specific religious context.

Humanism: An outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.

Spiritual Humanism: A religion (set of beliefs/traditions) based on the ability of human beings to solve the problems of society using logic and science (humanism). IT IS A SET OF TRADITIONS AND BELIEFS BASED ON REASON AND NATURE, without any gods or other supernatural beings. It is subjective: It does NOT say that god can absolutely never become a scientific discovery in the future; Humanism's beliefs evolve with the discovery of scientific facts; It's members are not followers in that they are free to create their own traditions and have their own personal beliefs beyond those we hold in common.

Why a religion? Most people need a set of beliefs to help them through life's challenges and difficult moral decisions. Recognizing how the power of religious rituals or ceremonies, methods, and communication can impact human behavior, Spiritual Humanism fuses traditional religious behaviors onto the foundation of scientific humanist inquiry. While it is impossible to remove age old traditions from human culture, we can redirect them by redefining their underlying significance and meanings. Spiritual Humanism is natural, not supernatural. By using a method of scientific inquiry we can define the inspirational spark inherent in all living creatures.

We are able and responsible to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity. We strive to live life well and fully. Our beliefs are subject to change as our knowledge and understandings advance.
