The Federal Court for the Western District of Arkansas sitting, first at Van Buren, and then Fort Smith, Arkansas held jurisdiction over most of what is now the State of Oklahoma during the latter half of the 19th Century. The lawmen who served this court and the outlaws they pursued have become legendary to the point that the line between myth and reality has become blurred.
