About Goyang Debate Society
Active, high-spirited, passionate are the three words that describe the club for debaters at GYFL. Every two weeks, debaters gather to discuss both current issues and the controversial topics that have been discussed in the past. Members of the club debate against each other with diverse skills, to learn and enhance their debate abilities. With seven years of history, older members of GDS who are more experienced frequently visit the club to give advice to younger members. The genial, friendly atmosphere in GDS contributes to cooperation within debate teams, making them even more successful. As a result of honing debate skills with fervent efforts, many members of the GDS have succeeded in achieving outstanding results both inside and outside of Goyang Foreign Language High School. Due to improvements in English and enhanced logical elaboration, many GDS members have gained successful results in academic fields, and Goyang Model United Nations and Goyang Debate Competition, which is held by our club annually, were topped by our members. Active participation did not end here, and extended to activities outside the school. Debate competitions such us YTN, KUDC, KSDC and High-On are another group of examples that substantiate the exceptional abilities that our members have.
