The purpose of the Appalachian Teen Angels Mission is to create the opportunity for others to provide Christmas presents for the teenagers (13 & up) in families living in the Jellico, TN area of the Appalachian Mtns. Typically, gifts are provided only for children thru the age of 12 years.
We encourage complete adoptions whenever possible, but would never deny anyone the blessing of being a blessing, therefore, donations of individual items are very much welcomed & appreciated !!
If you're doing a complete adoption, the steps are as follows:
1) select the number & genders of Teens that you wish to adopt
2) purchase the items listed (it's ok to add additional items if you choose)
3) pkg each Teen's items together & include a card or note (whether you sign it
or leave it anonymous is up to you)
4) place items in a gift bag & tag it either Teen Boy or Teen Girl
5) arrange for drop off or pick up
Girl items - new hat & gloves, a pr. of fuzzy slipper socks, scented body care items (shower gel/bodywash, lotion, body spray) (travel size is fine), and either a craft kit or a game or puzzle.
Boy items - new hat & gloves, pr. thermal socks, body care items (body wash, body spray) (travel size is fine), and either a craft/hobby kit or a game or puzzle.
*due to the expense of replacements, please do not include games or items that require batteries*
Gifts will be given out randomly, by gender. Due to circumstances, it's not feasible to pair up w/specific teens, which is why we try to select items that are one size fits or is suitable for most !
*If you feel your gift is MORE appropriate for a younger teen (13-15) or an older teen (16-19), you can indicate that on the tag. If you feel it's appropriate for all ages from 13-19, then no indication is needed.
