This group is to open further discussion about the safety of Fuller and Maynard Street as well as surrounding streets such as Northwood, Bel Air, Black St. and Bloomfield and the overall broader municipal and legal issues in support of pedestrians of all forms. People and animals and anyone affected by reckless, environmental, invasive, or harmful behaviour from motor vehicles towards pedestrians. This is not intended to be exclusively for servicing this area, it just so happens to be a heavy traffic area with dense population.

This is a place to convene, and bring together community members, landlords, property and business owners, and city councillors to improve the safety of this neighbourhood to come up with viable and reasonable solutions to the escalating issue of accidents and casualties due to reckless driving.

This comes after several incidents of reckless driving killing neighbourhood pets, injuring pedestrians.

Here are a few topics we can start with (please feel free to suggest edits,or further items):

1) How soon can HRM get a light installed in the crosswalk on North Street between Maynard and Fuller?
2) Speed bumps on Fuller and Northwood?
3) It does not have to be a boring neighbourhood to be a safe one. How can we maintain a vibrant neighbourhood without an overabundance of unnecessary monitoring and without provoking fear?
4) Lights on Bloomfield crosswalk as well crossing Agricola?

This is just to get things started, organize some ideas, and perhaps set up a meeting with our HRM Councillor Jennifer Watts. THere is no better time to approach HRM than after a surplus has been announced and before the next budget goes through!

Peace.
