Designed for students who are familiar with classical liberal principles and interested in the ethical foundations of free markets.

The Morality, Capitalism & Freedom seminar raises central questions about the morality of capitalism, examining its historical roots and its role in free societies. Reading and discussing ideas from Robert Nozick, Adam Smith, Ayn Rand, and F.A. Hayek, participants dig into a rigorous, interdisciplinary study of capitalism in relation to human nature, society, and government.

Students and faculty will put principles to work, applying timeless ideals to pressing issues—past and present.

• How can free markets promote human flourishing?
• Do property rights matter? How should they work in current society?
• What is the history of capitalism as an organizing principle for society?
