In July 1990 a group of friends and avid travellers in Strasbourg sat around a lunch table discussing how they might avoid the usual tourist conveyor belt in their upcoming summer holidays. Out of that conversation grew 'Latourex' - Le Laboratoire de Tourisme Experimental. They describe the project as a group of 'travel experiments'. These are ways of exploring the world that allow you to see it with fresh eyes, to find things of interest and magic for yourself, rather than trudge along with thousands of other camera-waving people to the same museums, landmarks and beaches. Their ideas are often hilarious and ridiculous, but they are full of the fun and sense of adventure that one would hope to find on a journey.
