Ok. Took me a little longer than expected to get back to everyone.
First off, the golf courses were fantastic this year(9.5 out of 10), the restaurants were tremendous (9 out of 10), weather cooperated (8 out of 10) and the World Tour Villas were nice and turned out to be a good central location (8 out of 10). Nightlife was above average but would concede we have done better, and by all means a little dial-back from the previous 2 years was definitely in order (7 out of 10). I am working with Wayne on getting a facebook group up so we can post pictures everyone has from the trip. On to next year….
2014 GOLF TRIP:
· Dates for next year’s trip: Wednesday September 24, 2014 thru Sunday September 28, 2014
o I’ve received strong preliminary feedback to these dates which is obviously moving things up 2 weeks earlier then what has been the norm
o Definitely run a greater risk of hotter weather but I believe too it will give us better rates as package and course rates typically go up the first week in October
o So do it right now, so I don’t get asked a hundred times, and put it into your calendars and don’t let anything else get in the way ;-)
· Courses: I am planning a more northern based itinerary next year as many of Myrtle Beach’s best courses lie on the top of South Carolina and the bottom end of North Carolina
o I’ve received strong feedback on including The Dunes in next year’s package, both from those that were there this year and a few of you that were not but will be next year
o Additional courses under consideration for 2014:
§ Glen Dornoch (SC, near Tidewater, 15-20 minutes from target for accommodations, in my top 7/8 courses in Myrtle)
§ Thistle (27 holes) (NC, 10 minutes past Glen Dornoch, 5 mins closer then Sea Trail which we played in Year 1, never played it)
§ Tigers Eye (NC, in my Myrtle top 5, 10 minutes past Thistle)
§ Leopards Chase (same location as Tigers Eye, never played it)
· Accommodations: Will be looking for accommodations in North Myrtle Beach area (similar to what we did in Year 5 at Barefoot, but probably another 5-10 minutes north)
o Also will be looking if we can get something beachfront, we’ll see how that plays out.
