On November 2, 2014, at 11:14pm Lukas was in the care of sitters when he was brought into the local hospital unresponsive and pulseless. His injuries were deemed as being consistent with being beaten.
After coding 3 times, they were able to fly him to Cardinal Glennon in St. Louis, MO. Since then, we have learned he has suffered from sever head and chest trauma among other injuries including bleeding on the brain.
We ask for continued thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time. Our family has been overwhelmed with love and support from the community and people from around the country and beyond.
Daily, we are watching our 3 year old Lukas as he begins the long journey of healing, and we know that it is because of answered prayers from everyone.
At this time, due to the ongoing investigation, we can not give out any specifics to the case. We do not want to run the risk of hindering the Mt. Vernon Police Department or the Illinois State Police from doing their job.
