Ottawa Area Reptile Club is dedicated to the education, conservation, study and growth of Herpetoculture. The members in this group range from professionals to hobbyists and from beginners to the experienced in the Ottawa area.

Here at OARC, our members are encouraged to share their photos, experiences and knowledge in a respectful manner. We have a wide range of experience levels and reptile counts. We welcome everyone to join our community, whether you are a beginner, more experienced, or simply curious about reptiles, amphibians or arachnids! We encourage debate, but we do request that all members be respectful to each other’s opinions during all discussions.
We want everyone to have fun and be able to relax as we take part in sharing the hobby we all love!
We allow and encourage local breeders and retailers to speak up and advertise their reptiles and products
We have a list of reptile breeders and suppliers available on both our Facebook group and page. Our goal is to further grow the community as a whole. As a community we try to support local breeders, so that we can help both beginners and experienced keepers find quality reptiles we strive to have information readily available to help you provide your reptiles the best possible care.
**-- The History of OARC --**
The Ottawa Area Reptile Club was founded by Jean and Jennifer Dore in January 2013. Originally starting out with just a small group of members, the group began to grow. As the number of members began to increase, the Dore’s needed more administrators. In July 2013, Jean and Jennifer decided to step back a little bit, and appointed Ben and Synthia to lead the club. The group still continues to expand, as new members are finding the group. We encourage you to invite new members, and share this group regularly.
