This is set up to provide information on aurora watching in the Nordic countries. It cannot make predictions or tell you if you can see the northern lights on a particular day, as no one can be sure of this. Seeing lights depends on magnetic activity, the weather and whether it is dark or not.
Oulu, for instance, is quite far south for watching the aurora; you do have much better chances the further north you go as the magnetic activity increases.
If you see lights, please post so that others can watch too: this group has worked really well at notifying when there are current magnetic storms and high chances of lights within the next few hours.
To keep an eye on whether lights are likely, we follow these sites. Please note that none of us can predict if there will be lights on a certain night, and when and for how long. We only wish we could!
