The Plainfield Ale and Lager Enthusiasts (PALE) homebrew club was formed by eight local homebrewers in August 2010. The first meeting occurred during Homebrewers Appreciation Night at Limestone Brewing Company in Plainfield, Illinois. Due to the incredible growth in the interest of craft beer and homebrewing, PALE saw its membership grow as well. Since that small meeting in August 2010, PALE’s membership has increased to over 100 registered members from all communities in the Plainfield area. PALE is an American Homebrewers Association registered club.
The mission of the Plainfield Ale & Lager Enthusiasts (PALE) is to explore, promote and educate the club members, as well as the community about the homebrewing hobby. We aim to promote awareness and appreciation of the quality and variety of homebrewed beers and meads through education, research, and the collection and dissemination of information. The consumption of samples allow for examination of the various styles of home brewed beverages for the purposes of competition, evaluation, feedback and problem solving.
Our goals are to engage in social activities focused on homebrewing and/or craft beer as a common foundation. We endeavor to learn more about beer, beer evaluation, and brewing techniques. We promote the hobby and enjoyment of homebrewing. We promote the responsible use and enjoyment of alcoholic beverages and the education of others on the methods of craft beer and of craft brewers. As a club consisting of responsible residents from local communities, we gladly work in cooperation with worthy local organizations to benefit the community as a whole.
