The Indian Poker Players Alliance is first and foremost a community space for Indian players. This specific group is meant for serious exchanges and dialogues. There are 2 other groups (details below) for a broader range of interactions among players.
In this group, we will focus on:
• Poker-related news/ analysis from India and abroad
• Analysis & discussions on poker plays/ strategies, current debates/ trends.
• Conversations on strategies for growth of poker in India
• Legal matters and related developments
• Advocacy-related issues, particularly lobbying for tax reform and recognition of poker as a skill-based sport in India
• Any other significant issues of relevance to the Indian poker scene.
IPPA hopes to play a significant role in the growth and expansion of the Indian poker scene by actively expanding its membership base, and by promoting the game among the newer emerging player pools.
As a forum, in time to come, we hope to become a pressure group for advocacy and lobbying with the officialdom. We feel that any advocacy will bear results only in a conducive political environment through a set of concerted campaigns. This needs a critical mass of a few thousand poker players AND consultations and co-ordination among all the major Indian poker stakeholders on a common platform. It also needs hard, realistic assessments and strategy for the long-term, with little or no expectation of some instant or easily achievable remedy.
IPPA would like to evolve into such a forum with help from all its members.
Above all, IPPA is and will remain a platform for the community to share information, resources, knowledge and ideas concerning poker in India.
