Information on scheduled ceremonies or events relevant to group members

If you are new to our sweat lodge community, some light reading:

This ceremony is aligned with the traditions of the Woptura Medicine Society. Woptura was the medicine man to Crazy Horse. As we share these ancient spiritual ways we are committed to being impeccable in preserving them. The more you do this ceremony, you will find that the power of it depends on your connection to spirit, what you are willing to offer and how you walk your path.
The ceremony actually begins when you set your commitment to join us. We hope you can join us but if not, please keep us in your prayers that day. If you can participate, here are some ways to prepare:

Arrive with personal intention
Lodge is also for personal healing, so if you have an ailment, tiredness, or spiritual issues, bring those along and put them on the altar.
Please do not partake of alcoholic beverages for at least 48 hours before the lodge. Hydrate well all day right up until lodge time
Arrive with an open heart.
As this may be a new experience for you, please come prepared to do what is needed to help all of us. Lodge is a communal effort.
What to Bring.
Please be sure to bring your lodge clothes (towel, cotton dress or swim trunks), some food to share (some of our Tiospaye are vegan) for our post-lodge feast, and your prayer tie "kit", if you have one. Tobacco and a love offering are always welcome for the support of the lodge. And, most important, we welcome anyone who comes with an open, prayerful and loving attitude - so invite others! Women in their Moontime (call Judy at the number below if you don't know about that) do not attend the lodge but can be supported with information about ceremony that they can create at home.

Bringing others.
This ceremony is by invitation only – you are welcome to bring someone, just let us know before committing to your potential invitee.

Gifting.
Gifting is a complex and often misunderstood aspect of ceremony.
It is traditional to offer tobacco to the person who conducts a Lakota ceremony.
We can explain more about gifting and tobacco gifting on lodge day.
If we have overlooked anything, don’t hesitate to ask about the lodge or the ceremony itself. Let us know if you plan to participate or would like to invite others. a
