Founded in 2004 at Illinois State, our chapter of College Mentors for Kids has made it our goal to inspire the youth within the Bloomington-Normal community. Our organization is completely college-student run on campus. We work with elementary school students from District 87 in Bloomington. Our national office in Indianapolis, Indiana provides us with the tools, training, and support we need to make a positive change locally.

College Mentors for Kids at Illinois State University works with almost 200 students from District 87's Stevenson, Bent, Sheridan, and Irving Elementary Schools. Our mentors, also known as "big buddies," are dedicated to helping their "little buddies" grow, learn, and realize that college is an option for them. Our University has so much to offer, and we want to share it with kids. The mentors help their little buddies learn and grow through hands-on, fun activities directed toward three categories: Higher Education, Culture & Diversity, and Community Service.

This group is for all members of our chapter to post stories, pictures and memories of the great experiences we have with our kids, as well as provide a communication tool for our mentors and buddy families.

Please check out our National Office's website at www.CollegeMentors.org for resources and more information.
