*Membership is intended for those with a connection to Louisiana and to the Transgender Umbrella under which we operate. If accepted please take care to invite only friends that qualify.

*To insure the safety of our members, people requesting to join the group may be messaged by an administrator.

*Posts containing personal attacks will be removed by an administrator of the group to ensure the group remains a safe space for all of our members. If a member of the group consistently ignores this, they may be removed from the group.

*Please do not post pictures from any of our social support meetings online (including this group). Please be sure to get the consent of those in pictures taken outside of our meetings before you post them.

*Please do not use our site to sell items or ask for money. There are places to ask for money like "gofundme" and others. Transgender people as a group, rarely have money to spare and are usually saving for their own transition.

*Activism and Education: Our activism group is spearheading several projects that you are welcome to get involved in. If there is any hope of Louisiana with fully equality, it is critical that the transgender community has a clear and unified voice across the state.

*Social Support Group: We have monthly social support groups in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, Lake Charles and Shreveport, as well as at LSU. The groups are open to all people who self identify as transgender or gender variant, regardless of where they fall on the feminine to masculine scale or where they are in the transition process. Significant others, family, friends, and allies of trans and gender variant people are also welcome to participate.

Mission:
Louisiana Trans Advocates strengthens and supports transgender and allied communities across the state through social support, education, empowerment, and advocacy in order to promote self-determination of gender identity and gender expression for everyone.

Statement of Principles:

1. The interests and concerns of all classes, subgroups and minorities within the transgender community in Louisiana are valuable and should be heard and fairly represented.

2. Mutual benefit can be achieved by working with other organizations in the pursuit of civil and human rights.

3. All people, regardless of individual socioeconomic condition or degree of technological sophistication, should have an opportunity to participate fully in organizational activities.
