The Little Star High School, Adilabad started as a hostel in 1975 with only 20 boys from remote areas of the Adilabad district. Recognising the need of parents to provide quality education to children, the Prince Education Committee established the school in the Patan District of Adilabad in 1978.

The English Medium school began as a primary school with 113 students and was upgraded to a secondary school with the first group of class 10 students graduating in 1985. In 2002, the School was integrated into the Aga Khan Education Services, India. Today, the School has 1000 students from pre-primary to Class 10, from varied backgrounds and cultures. It is affiliated to the Andhra Pradesh State Board and follows this curriculum in senior classes. Investing in regular teacher training and development, the school maximizes utilisation of its infrastructure and resources to ensure delivery of a robust education programme.

The School is part of the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) which has a long tradition of leadership in educational development. The foundations of the present system were laid by Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah, Aga Khan III, under whose guidance over 200 schools were established during the first half of the 20th century, the first of them in 1905 in Zanzibar, Gwadur in Pakistan and Mundra in India. Since the creation of Aga Khan Education Service companies in the 1970s, the schools have been centrally administered and managed.

AKES currently operates more than 300 schools and advanced educational programmes that provide quality pre-school, primary, secondary and higher secondary education services to more than 54,000 students in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Uganda, Tanzania and Tajikistan. Schools are also envisaged, or under development, in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique and Syria.
