MISSION:
To offer friendship and support to people in our area who are suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), their families and carers and to provide information and raise awareness of ME, including biomedical research and all other related issues.
OVERVIEW OF THE GROUP
SSBMESG is an independent, self supporting group set up to provide support for sufferers of ME/CFS living in the Solihull and South Birmingham area.
DESCRIPTION
To our knowledge, SSBMESG is the only ME support group in Birmingham or Solihull at the present time and we have members from all over the Birmingham, Solihull and Black Country areas. We hold 10 monthly meetings a year (not August or January). Meetings are usually informal and open for chat and discussion and occasionally, we have a speaker for part of the meeting. We also have a quarterly newsletter.
GENERAL INFORMATION
SSBMESG generally meet on the second Monday of the month at Shirley Community Centre. However, some meetings are in the daytime and these are held at a member’s home, usually in the Kings Heath area.
