Here is the current note I send out when I'm uncertain if a person is requesting to be a part of the Homeschooling Group for the 'right' reasons:
We appreciate your request to join our group, Tampa Bay Homeschooling Families Group. Periodically, we have found "TBHFG" individuals that have joined only to spam us with shoes for sale, vacation deals, weight loss programs, etc. We try to be sure that our group is a safe place for fellow homeschoolers to find support on their journey, or for those interested in getting support as they consider homeschooling, or even for those who may offer legitimate resources related to the needs of families homeschooling. Before we accept your membership we'd like to find out a little about you. Please reply back with a brief description of your interest in connecting with homeschooling families: possibly the ages/grade levels of children you are homeschooling, how long you have been homeschooling, etc. Thanks for your understanding! We look forward to hearing back from you and welcoming you into our “family.”
