The NIC is a great way to network with other members of the international community and learn how to set up "infrastructure" such as locating housing, understanding the school system, finding babysitters, getting recommendations for restaurants/festivals/unique Swiss activities and just general know-how for making your time in Neuchâtel memorable in a positive way!
Founded in 1988 by a group of English-speaking people active within the international community in Neuchâtel, its purpose is to provide information and support for members of the international community by providing a forum to meet and network. To achieve this, we organize a number of social events throughout the year for adults, children, pre-teens and teens. The adults enjoy the likes of wine tasting, bowling, girls’ nights and boys’ nights out, a Christmas party and a quiz night.
The children usually have a Spring/Easter party, a Halloween party and a Christmas party. For the pre-teens and teens, activities appropriate to their ages are organized. A family BBQ is also held every year.
Members receive a quarterly newsletter with information about NIC events, other upcoming events in the region, and any other information that may be useful to the membership.
The annual membership fees are CHF 40 for a single person, CHF 60 for a couple, and CHF 80 for a family. This is payable via the internet (Account #20-2923-0, red-slip option) or bulletin de versement. For any new member joining after 1 October, the fees paid apply to the remainder of the current year and the full year thereafter.
