Hello and welcome to the official Facebook group for the Province of East Kent.

This is a discussion forum for members of Lodges and Chapters in the Province and is only visible to group members. To be a member of the group you must be a member of an East Kent Lodge or Chapter.

It is for mature and thoughtful comments, observations and discussion of Masonic and Provincial matters. Masonic courtesy requires that each of us is personally responsible for taking care not to confuse robust, objective discussion with personal attack, sarcasm or vitriol, none of which is acceptable behaviour within this group. Please think about the words that you have used before pressing ‘enter’. In short – be nice!

If you discuss aspects of ritual, remember that some of our group members are Entered Apprentices.

Very senior members of the Province will be visiting this group regularly to enjoy the various discussions and get a good flavour of what members like and dislike. So, here is the informal forum by which you can get your views, observations, thoughts and questions across to other members of the Province at all levels.

Enjoy! Be nice! Be Masonic!

From our Technical Administrator – an important advisory note about setting your notifications:

This is important – please take a couple of minutes to read it.

This group is a vibrant community which can generate a huge number of notifications from our chat.

The following information will help you if you wish to turn-off the notifications so that you do not constantly receive emails/tones/etc.

The notifications setting can be found in the grey bar just below our profile picture at the top of the page; the grey bar starts on the left with The Province of East Kent. Over to the right of it is a Notifications button. If you click on notifications a drop down menu will appear with three options: "All Posts”, “Friend Posts” and “Off".

“All Posts” will show you everything that happens on the page, likes, shares, comments. This is the Facebook default setting and the cause of much pain.

“Friend's Posts” is exactly the same but shows only the activity of those in the group who are your friends. If you choose this option, it will cut down much of the activity but could still drive you mad!

“Off” has to be our recommended setting as it will switch off all group notifications. You can then log into the group and catch up with things as frequently or as infrequently as you wish. You are in control of when you choose to look at the posts and comments.

For many of us this one simple thing of selecting to turn-off the notifications, can save a huge number of smart-phone notifications or the unnecessary filling up of your email inbox and the stress that goes with it! Consequently, we recommend that it should be the first thing you do when you join this group.
