Aim and Objectives
1) To encourage fellowship among all members
2) To promote and safeguard the welfare of Afghans
3) To strengthen Afghan national unity
4) To promote understanding and friendly relations with people of other nationalities
5) To aid new Afghan students, where possible on their arrival to UC
6) To Provide opportunities to help promote a better understanding of our country (culture, geography, food, people, etc.)
Membership
1) At the moment membership of the association shall be made through Facebook page and this will likely be changed later.
2) The membership of the association shall be open to all members from year 12 upwards students and all other students at other universities in NZ
3) Ordinary members - Students from UC only
4) Associated members – Non UC students
5) Honorary members: members appointed by the committee at the meeting.
Members
Their rights and Obligations
a) Ordinary members
Ordinary members are entitled to nominate themselves for honorary members, vote and enjoy the rights and privileges of the association.
b) Associate members
Associate members are accorded speaking rights (join the discussion, share their views)
but not voting right. Associate members will be not allowed to nominate themselves for honorary membership
c) Honorary members
Honorary members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of the association
Cessation of membership
Membership will be ceased in any of the following case:
1) Any members found to act inappropriate (e.g. posting or commenting offensive articles that will discomfort other members) will be warned by the honorary members three times and if this didn’t work then her or his membership will be declined.
Structure and role of the management group or committee
1) Management committee
a) The management committee consist of:
- Honorary members
- Ordinary members
b) Duties of the management committee
- Ordinary members are responsible to help extend the activity of this group. They are responsible to attend the meetings.
- Honorary members are responsible for holding the meeting, safeguarding the FB page
and maintaining contact with UCSA.
- Associated members will be responsible to share their thoughts and views only (at this
stage).
Meeting
a) Meeting will be held every semester on holiday and one person will be appointed to be
the host for that meeting. The host is responsible for the discussion within the meeting.
b) Honorary members will be appointed after every 2 meetings.
Election
1) There will be elections once a year.
2) The elections will be held in final meeting of the year where Honorary members will be appointed.
3) The nominated members shall be appointed with the approval of at least (2/3) majority of the members present at the meeting. At the moment every ordinary members will be given the chance of being the honorary
members.
