News 'n Schmooze -- The Oxford Circle Historical Society-- Our PFOCPN Group is a friendly FB group dedicated to the families who settled in the Oxford Circle (OC) community from about the early 1940s-1980s and beyond, the people who worked there, and the people, places, and things that continue to inspire us today. We're probably the original Oxford Circle FB Group since we got started back in 2009. It's a "closed" group (to protect our privacy) but new members can apply and current members can add their FB friends who may fit in. This group is not for everybody but if you're a sharing person who likes to write comments and post things you'll have fun.
About our members-- We didn't all go to the same school or place of worship, etc. Sure, a lot of us are Jewish and proud of that fact. Many of us are not Jewish and are just as proud of who they are too and went to parochial schools, attend churches, and have great memories as well. Once you're a member you'll be able to "like" and comment on people's posts and share pictures, thoughts, and videos.
It's a group where you can reminisce about the days gone by and perhaps even reconnect with people you once knew but lost track of. It happens all the time. We're a relatively small-size NE Philly group where each member can be a familiar "face" --or "Character" if they want. Unfortunately, if you have little or no ties to the neighborhood or to other people in our group we may not be able to accept you, sorry.
This group mostly tries to be CIPA COMPLIANT (Children's Internet Protection Act) which means no excessive vulgarity in images or words. Cyber-bullying is not tolerated. If you post something that is insulting or causes dissension, it may be removed. That includes discussing politics or religion in an over-the-top disparaging way that is directed at other members and any kind of personal attacks.
