I am an Occupational Therapist and I live with PAH. What is an Occupational Therapist? It is in the area of Rehabilitation Medicine along with Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy. OT's traditionally focus on maximizing independence and function by assessing an individuals abilities and challenges and adapting the activity, environment or providing instruction (including exercise) to increase overall independence in ADL's (activities of daily living). I have been an OT for 22 years and when I developed PAH, I didn't let that stop me. I used my knowledge to help me live with my PAH, continue working full time and channeling my "I used to be able to do this (marathon running, skiing, etc)" into work that challenges my mind and fulfills me personally. I believe everyone has a calling and I choose to believe that there must be a reason for my having PAH. Upon your request, I will send you a message asking you to tell me a little about your PH or your family member's PH. I get many requests from individuals that don't have PH or would not benefit the group. Please check your messages as well as your "Other Folder". I will delete your request if I have not gotten a response after a month. We offer support and tips and a safe place to share information, but please keep in mind that the information offered is only the opinion of that individual and you should seek medical care/advice from your medical professional. This group is offered as a positive supportive place and we do not allow disrespectful comments among members. It's stressful enough to have a condition like PH. Any conflicts will be handled through private message and addressed by the admins if one arises publicly within the group. Please share your PH story and tips that you've learned during your journey and welcome to our PHamily!!
